Lake City at Coeur d'Alene, CHS wins the state birth.
The Lake City Timberwolves just didn't have anything to combat the apparently healthy Carli Rosenthal and the Coeur d'Alene Vikings Friday night. The Viks jumped out to an 11 point lead, and the T-Wolves didn't score a field goal until 48 seconds left in the 1st quarter. It was over. Sydney Butler started at Rosenthal, getting her in foul trouble in the 3rd quarter, but the T-Wolves could not make up any ground on the Vikings even with Rosenthal out.
I watched with amazement as Rosenthal grabbed one particular rebound. Two LC girls grabbed the ball, which was above Rosenthal's head, and hung there until Rosenthal just shed them and put the ball in the basket. She is an amazing player. I used to watch as Rosenthal almost apologetically out played her opponents, as if to say " Sorry I out rebounded you then scored on you". In her third year now, her face is now starting to say "Get out of my way or I WILL crush you".
She scores when she wants to, but add Kendalyn Brainard to the mix and the Vikings are very, very good. Good luck at state girls!
